Public integrity and anti-corruption

Corruption undermines the rule of law by undercutting governmental and other societal institutions, by diminishing respect for human rights and by limiting opportunities for economic growth. It impedes development objectives, causes judicial system dysfunction, weakens application of the law and negatively impacts citizens everyday.

Corruption negatively impacts all development goals, such as equitable use of natural resource wealth or mitigating the impact of climate change, and that it is often a root cause of transnational crimes, including drug smuggling, human trafficking and terrorism.
